Skinny on Rachael

I’m your typical American – busy with responsibilities at work and home and not enough time to take care of myself! I am 26 years old and have been working in a demanding job in finance since the age of 21. I was never a “skinny kid”, but by the time I was 24, the pounds had crept up to 244 lbs. from too many late night trips through the drive-thru or pizza deliveries after work. At my young age I was surprised to find I had high blood pressure and my cholesterol and blood glucose levels were nearing seriously high levels. That’s when I knew I had to make a change. After losing about 35 lbs. over 4 months on a liquid diet, I thought I was going to shoot someone (probably my wonderful, supportive fiance) if I saw another meal replacement shake. Plus, I was scared that I would not learn how to prepare solid “real food” correctly as all my meals were in liquid form. So, due to the busyness factor described above and not having the time to plan, shop for and prepare my own food, I decided to try out the world of meal delivery diets. This is my story, and hopefully I’ll stick to it this time.

  1. Hi Rachel,

I’m KB, and I really like your blog. Maybe we can email and share details, but I am considering doing the same as you — blogging my dieting because I need to do something…as a woman who struggles with her weight, I think you get what I mean. Anyway — I will continue to read and check back with you again!! You are inspiring!!

  3. Hello Rachael and KB!

I was so happy to find this blog; I am in almost the same situation as you two post above! Work long hours, don’t like to cook, up to a 36 in wst pants — and unhappy with that.

This is my first couple days on the SS 2,000 calorie plan, although struggle in my mind with the cost of the plan, am very happy with the taste of the meals. Also very surprised as to the size of the 2,000 calories! WOW, the first night was the meatloaf and the taste was great and I was soooo full.

The gym plan starts back today as well. Wish me luck!

  4. Hi Travis!

Thank you for coming by to visit my blog! I’m sorry to hear SSHE is cost prohibitive for you, have you checked to see if a distributor with pickups is available in your area?

Yes, as you can see from the photos, my fiance’s 2,000 calorie meals are quite large but both are quite tasty. The only improvement I think SSHE needs is better breakfasts. I am really a breakfast person and I find theirs to be small and usually not enough protein for me. I may start adding yogurt or something like that to sneak more in.

I am feeling really good starting a gym routine again. I find that eating well makes me want to exercise and vice versa, so they really enforce each other!

Please keep us updated on how you are doing, it’s great to hear from you!

    Rachael
